Take your harp and its beautiful music out into the public arena and surprise people! Most people have never seen or heard a harp up close and personal and this is your chance to introduce them to our magical instruments. Remember &#8211; this is RANDOM &#8211; no busking! no announcements! The element of surprise is essential. If you would like to be included in the Folk Harp Journal article, please snap a pic and write a short paragraph about your harp adventures and send them to me via the email link on my website at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.JoannaMell.com\">www.JoannaMell.com<\/a>. This event is for ALL harpers\/harpists &#8211; beginners through professionals. (I must receive your pic and info by June 24 &#8211; deadline).&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jun 6 On-line. <\/strong>Sunita Staneslow, harp, and Wisam Gibran, oud and violin, present Dialogue of Strings, a concert in Jaffa, 12 pm PDT. Don&#8217;t miss this rare performance by these two world class musicians. The concert will include music from the Shetlandic and Arabic lands intertwined with Middle Eastern rhythms and improvisations.  The concert can be attended at <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/G1t5STEHv1s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/G1t5STEHv1s<\/a> and will be available for viewing later as well. Concert is free, contributions are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jun 6 Eugene OR.<\/strong> University of Oregon&#8217;s School of Music and Dance spring student harp concert! Free, 8 pm, at Berwick Hall at 975 E 18th Ave (at Harris St). Easy entrance just steps off 18th Ave. Repertoire will include a traditional Mexican folk song, two metal pieces transcribed for harp by our graduating senior, a gorgeous impressionistic  piece from Respighi, Canon in D and, for our finale, the spectacular Baroque Flamenco duet by Deborah Henson Conant. Local harp students are invited to come early at 7:00 to informally share a piece or two they&#8217;ve been working on. Meet more of your local harp community! Teacher Lily Neill has captivated audiences around the world with her original compositions and eclectic repertoire, the dynamism and breadth of her performances, and her infectious passion for the harp. Lily earned a 1st Class Honours degree in Irish Music and Dance from the University of Limerick, Ireland, and a Master of Music degree from Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. This workshop covers an array of techniques and fun \u201cbrain teasers\u201d that can be applied as arrangement tools to help develop a free-flowing style all your own. This year will feature harp classes by the amazing Justyna Krzy\u017canowska. Justyna holds a BA in Classical Music from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and a Master\u2019s Degree in Traditional Music from the Royal Conservatory of Scotland. Her lever harp style is dynamic, rhythmic and powerful. She will teach traditional tunes, Celtic ornamentation, and rhythmic techniques and grooves. The retreat also includes ensemble classes of Scandinavian, Celtic, and Canadian tunes, offering harpists the opportunity to play alongside other instrumentalists. The Saturday evening concert features the dynamic ANEMARA with two fiddles, harp, cello, stepdance, and four-part vocal harmonies. Looking for harpers willing to share their favorite tunes in a performance type venue. If you feel ready to dabble your toes in the waters of performing in a supportive and encouraging environment, we are here for you. If you think you have 20-30 minutes\u2019 worth of music to share, we would love to include you on our stage. All performers receive a pass for the day of their performance and there is a close by unloading space for getting your harp to the tent.
